How to remove a crash virus from a USB Pen drive?

USB Pen drives, the easiest tools for data transfers, and is also the easiest ways to get infected by malicious objects such as virus, Spy wares, Trojans etc…
In this post I’ll tell you how to safely format a pen drive which has a crash virus without damaging the computer. Most of the viruses get activated only if let them run. The USB drives come with auto run features that can allow programs to run on its own, once they are inserted into your computer. You need to disable auto run to stop the virus or Trojan running on its own. You could disable auto run this way.

Go to Run
Type “gpedit.msc” without quotations
Double click “computer configuration”
Double click “administrative templates”
Double click “system”
Look for “turn off auto play” and enable it

Once you have done this, it is impossible for the Trojan or virus to auto run from Pen drive. Go to My computer and right click on the USB drive and click on format option. Then format as many times as you wish. And that’s it. Your useless pen drive is safe now. Don’t worry! I recovered my pen drive which had crash virus in it. So you can hang on me unless you don’t mess up with the steps…

Nice tip. Tweak XP is another tool through which you can disable Autorun.

@rajaie hi, dude welcome to my blog, hope you enjoyed your stay. BTW if you plug in a pendrive with a crash virus into your computer, if the autorun is not disabled then the virus would autorun and crash the computer as soon as you plug it in your computer..

Hey
a virus hitted my PC
But it was not done by any pendrive
i think ,bcoz i dont have one ……
i think its from a Dvd in which a good collection wallpapers are i dont want to loose wall papers…….
is the same procedure for DVD rom

and tell me how to copy all the wallpapers excluding virus??

hi sarv, thnx for commenting.. First run a virus scan using recently updated anti virus software. you try AVG free edition, if you’re looking for a free one, or create a new folder in any of your drive… copy the wallpaper folder to that folder.. then go tools –> folder option & in the view tab under folders and files menu select show hidden files and click apply. now you can see all hidden files as virus hide themselves and come in the form of .exe format commonly.. if you see any suspicious folder or file with an extention .exe. now delete them using shredders as windows default is not useful as they recover even if you delete.. if you are looking for a free shredder then go here.. http://www.sys-shield.com/fileshredder.htm
